This is a lap blanket that is designed to replicate a mermaid tail. I created this pattern in 2012-2016 and in 2024 I will be welcoming a great-niece. I decided to create a pod of mermaid tails for the new blended family to show inclusion with a blend of their favorite colors in each headband and tail.
I originally created baby photo props mermaid tails and then started creating for children 7, pre-teen and small adult.
I have created these in many colors but the ombre is so easy to add that something extra.
The number of skeins, depends on the size and how many vary colors you choose to use.
I hope you enjoy this pattern, as much as I do.
How to be a little mermaid, Mer-person while reading a book, watching t.v. or just snuggling and relaxing.
Mermaid tail lap Afghan blanket.
Acrylic, machine wash and dry. I added buttons, so you can embellish if you desire. I crocheted Flowers that you simply unbutton them or button them onto the Mermaid Tail, Hat or headband.
This is a lap Afghan that is actually a cocoon style. It slips on like a pillowcase, Gunne Sax (Gunny sack), or it is fully enclosed. I am 5’2’ and 115 to 125 lbs. This sits exactly at my hips.
