The Mermaid Tail shawl is an asymmetrical shawl, where the increases are hidden on the edge of the seed stitch, and the horseshoe cable, which also happens to look like tail flukes, is worked up the other side. Between tracking the cable rows and making sure you “knit the purls and purl the knits” for the seed stitch, this intermediate-level shawl does not get boring.

You can use any size of yarn with this, though that does change your gauge, of course. I recommend going up a size of needle for whatever yarn you decide. Create a swatch with 8 stitches for the cable and at least 12 stitches for the seed stitch to test your chosen yarn if you are concerned about the size.

Blocking instructions are also included.
