Mermaids Tale
UPDATE: March 2022
At the Australian Tamborine Mountain Show in March 2022, Lynadell was awarded FIRST PRIZE for this creation of her original pattern and this hand knitted shawl.
She is now running Classes to show how to work this pattern and Kits are available. Please leave a message for your request.
This one was so easy to wear I ended up knitting more than one. In the first pattern I used some fine leftover sock yarn, then I used double knitting. Both look fabulous. You could use all one color as well and that would be good too.
This piece is knitted by casting on stitches, then working across them in groups of 21 stitches at a time. This makes for fast knitting and also little bites at a time, which makes it feel like you are achieving something every time you pick it up. You can do as many V’s in one evening as you like, and soon you will see it grow.
Each row of V’s is called a line of which there are 17 lines in one garment. Every line is started off using Black yarn and then the 4 alternative colors are alternated throughout the piece. At the end of the garment little diamonds fill in the last gaps and then tassels are made to complete.
