Merriot
Merriot is a wide fingering weight scarf designed for variegated yarns. This pattern looks amazing in high contrast variegated yarns - even the most intense colours. Self striping yarns will also look great, as will gradient yarns.
This is a one skein project - the scarf uses almost all of a skein of yarn with a yardage of about 400m (440yds)/100 grams. Merriot can be worked in pretty much any fingering weight yarn that can be blocked.
The pattern is fully charted and also has line-by-line written instructions.
Merriot has a Low Vision Accessible version. This version is written in 24 point Arial in black text and it has no italics. All of the directions are fully written out.
Merriot will suit you if:
- you love variegated yarns and lace but have struggled to combine the two
- you like simple lace with strong geometric lines
- you are happy working single yarnovers and single and double decreases with wrong side rows purled
- you like the Rivenhall scarf pattern, which has slightly more complex lace
Merriot might not be for you if:
- you like really complex lace
- you prefer narrow scarves
This pattern benefited from the input of a group of great test knitters and proof readers: steelelady, goodnurse, yarna, Carmen73, Canberra, KateB660, justJnet, Fredchen, SpinnenGarn and Fenlinka.
