This Christmas Tree Skirt features a Fair Isle colorwork pattern knitted in worsted weight yarn. Using various amounts of six colors of yarn this is a great stash-busting project that can be easily customized by changing colors. Knitted seamlessly, in the round, this pattern uses a Steek to create an opening at the back of the skirt. This heirloom piece will be treasured by many generations, and would add a festive element to any Christmas decor.

US size 6 (4.00 mm) circular needles, 40” cord or larger.
Worsted weight yarn; sample is made in Berroco Lanas, Worsted (100% Wool; 219 yd 200 m/31/2 oz 100 g): #9500 Snow Days (Color A), approximately 54 yds/ 25 g; #95110 Grapefruit (Color B), approximately 54 yds/ 25 g; #9550 Berries (Color C), approximately 164 yds/ 75 g; #9552 Mistletoe (Color D), approximately 219 yds/ 100 g; #95115 Limelight (Color E), approximately 219 yds/ 100 g; #95121 Teal (Color F), approximately 219 yds/ 100 g.
Tapestry needle, Scissors , removable stitch markers, approximately 6 yds of ⅜” velvet ribbon, needle & thread for sewing.

24 st x 24 rows = 4”x 4” in Fair Isle pattern, worked in the round.

Pattern Notes
Carry unworked yarn at the back to minimize ends. Carried yarn at the beginning of the round will be covered with the Steek.
Catch floats that are longer than 5 sts.
Most rounds are knitted with 2 or 3 colors of yarn, but there are several rounds that use 4 colors.
Knit 7 Steek stitches in alternating columns of color (for example: light, dark, light, dark, light, dark, light.) In rows that have 3 or 4 colors of yarn, alternate between all the colors to include them in the Steek.
First two Colorwork Charts repeated 6 times around the body of the skirt, giving it a hexagon shape. The last Colorwork Chart repeated 8 times across each hexagon section to create a circular shape of the skirt.
