Yarn:
You could use thinner yarn I am sure, just keep an eye on the gauge.

Yarn that is a length of 200 m/100 gr approx.
For example
7 Bröder, Sportsragg, Socki, Mellanraggi.
I recommend solid colors for this sock.

Color A: 150 gr/ 300 m
Color B: 50 gr/ 100 m
Color C: 25 gr/ 50 m
Color D: 25 gr/ 50 m

I used:
A: dark blue
B: white
C: Bright pink
D: beige
