The Merry-Go-Round Square is a beginner-friendly granny square pattern that is crocheted using only two stitches: single crochet (sc) and chain (ch). It is an easy, repetitive pattern that you can mindlessly crochet without having to refer to written instructions after a few rounds. These stitches can produce a dense stitch without gaps between the stitches if you’re using a small hook with your yarn. You can also use a large hook with thin yarn to create looser stitches, creating a soft and airy fabric. This square looks lovely in a solid color, as well as with multi-colored, variegated, self-striping, and ombre yarns. You can also switch yarn colors every round (or every few rounds) to have controlled color changes. Since this square can be made into any size, it’s great for any project that requires a granny square. Any yarn (I used medium weight 4 Friends Cotton 8/8)
Any size hook to go with your yarn (I used a 2.75mm hook to produce a dense square)
