Merry Mary Overalls
These little overalls are designed to fit snugly, like leggings. They will keep baby warm and comfortable from shoulders to toes, worn either next to the skin or over a lighter layer such as a sleeper, onesie, or tights. I made the first set for my newest granddaughter, who was able to wear them almost right away.
There is plenty of stretch to accommodate cloth diapers.
The gauge listed (5.5 st./in) was achieved with DK-weight yarn and a size US 5 (3.75 mm) needle; however, I have made them with light worsted at a gauge of 5 st./in which also worked well--they were just a little bigger.
You will need a 16” circular and 4 DPNs, a stitch holder, 6 stitch markers, and a tapestry needle for this pattern. Techniques include knit and purl stitches, increasing and decreasing, weaving/grafting or 3-needle bindoff for one small area, and applied I-cord edging. Directions for the edging are not included, but I have included a link to a video tutorial.
Many thanks to my wonderful testers: RedScot, Stickpixie, Donnaknitsdolls, Maritimeknitter, Cherry81, Mizzlizzbeck, Kimpiewimpie, and CraftyDana32!
