The Merry Go Round sweater is my most popular pattern ever. Recently I re-figured the design to work on a new yarn and added a size range for little girls. The new addition is a simplified version of the original, called the Merry Spring Vest. The adventure continues here with a version for American Girl dolls. Its construction is just like that of the human sized garment. If you have the original pattern, you will recognize this as using the 2 stage circle option from the pattern. Short-rowing will product a donut shaped piece of knitting that eventually becomes the collar, peplum and lapels of the vest

YARN, GAUGE, SIZE AND MACHINE This version includes 2 gauges. 7 stitches/10 rows per inch is for standard gauge machines including 4.5mm spacing Japanese machines and 5mm European machines. For this version use fingering or sport yarn and adjust the stitch size get the gauge. 5 stitches/8 rows per inch is for mid-gauge and bulky machines Use a #3 DK yarn and adjust the stitch size to get the gauge. The sample was made with Bernat Baby Softee using stitch size 4 on the KX 350 machine.
