In collaboration with Huck & Rae Fiber Studio, this cowl pattern design was very much inspired by the name of the beautiful colorway used, Summer Puddle.
The colorway is meant to evoke the colors of summer in the reflection of puddles after a summer storm — a mix of happy and beautiful hues that represent summer-time play, flowers, and being outside. With cold winters it is easy to yearn for that time of year and Merrymere represents those happy summer moments in a super warm and squishy cowl.
Made with one strand of bulky weight yarn and two strands of mohair held together, this cozy and luxe cowl is just what you need on gray days. It is worked from the top down with gradual increases and short row shaping to create a drapey front while reducing bulk at the neck to ensure comfort under jackets and coats. The simple stitch texture is accented by a bobble bind off to further evoke the playfulness of summer and would look beautiful in solid to variegated yarns.
The pattern has been tech edited, has 7 video tutorial links, a picture tutorial, written instructions, charted instructions, a separate file containing larger charts, and modification guidance. Bobbles & short rows are optional! Skill level: Adventurous beginner to intermediate.
