MeshUp Shawl
I am really excited about this new design because it describes my style best. I love mixing up different traditional styles and creating something new. MeshUp Shawl is a play on words and named after mashup style/music and the basic mesh design. The main section of this crescent shaped shawl is a mesh pattern stitch. The color work is a brand new, unique and not seen style of a combination of fair isle and lace work. The shawl is finished up with a knitted on lace border. Once blocked will create a beautiful light shawl perfect for Spring, Summer, and all the way through Fall.
Finished Size:
Wingspan 68 in (173 cm); Depth 20 in (51 cm).
Yarn:
Approx. 600 yards/150 gr of Fingering Weight yarn (MC); 200 yds/40 gr of Fingering weight yarn, white; 250 yds/50 gr of Fingering weight yarn in contrast color (CC). CC can be a single color or various mini skeins.
Materials used for Sample:
3 skeins of Knit Picks Stroll in colorway Wonderland Heather, Fingering Weight, 75% Merino, 25% Nylon, 231 yds/50 gr (MC); 1 mini skein set That Nasty-XXX Ribbon Candy by OldCrowArtYarns, Fingering weight, 100% superwash merino wool, 430 yds/100 gr (CC1-CC5), approx. 50 yds for each color, and approx. 160 yds in color white.
Needles:
32 in (80 cm) size US 4 (3.5 mm) and size US 7 (4.5 mm) circular needle. Optimal choice would be an interchangeable needle set to easily switch cords as stitches increase.
Notions: 3 markers, tapestry needle for weaving in ends, blocking pins and blocking mat for wet blocking.
Gauge:
18 stitches and 28 rows = 4 in (10 cm) in mesh pattern stitch after blocking. 25 stitches and 32 rows = 4 in (10 cm) in stockinette stitch on smaller needles after blocking.
Skill Level:
Intermediate. Pattern includes written instructions, charts, and schematics. Techniques used increases, decreases, some experience with stranded color work and lace patterns required.
Th pattern has been test knitted by Isabella-Elena , amaiku, jkaye and professionally tech edited by Tabitha’s Heart.
