This hat was named after my friend Gabriela’s family dog, Messi. He is a gorgeous little ball of fluff that brings joy to his entire family. He has a blanket that he got as a puppy that he still carries around 7 years later. You can learn more about Messi in the pattern.

This pattern is for a great basic earflap hat that is beginner friendly. It is stitched in a wonderful blend of alpaca and wool so it is lightweight, but super warm. I stitched one for myself last winter and it came in really handy on some bitterly cold January mornings. The contrasting color doesn’t require a lot of yarn so it’s a great excuse to go into your leftover stash hoard.
