My interpretation of the messy bun hat, I love ear flaps on my hats. You work this pattern with 2 strands held together, but you could also use a bulky yarn with only one strand if you prefer.
You can down size the pattern to make one for a child by going down to a J or a K hook.

I used faux fur pom poms, but you could use yarn ones that you make if you like, or leave them off altogether.
