Meta Mittens
$2 off in your cart if you’ve already purchased Meta Cap
Having purchased some good, sturdy, wool from a shop in Madison, WI, I was compelled to make a warm, water-resistant pair of mittens that had sheep on them. Finding a total lack of sheep patterned mittens I set to work.
Meta Mittens are knitted with 2 colors of worsted weight wool, altogether about 100 yards of each color. They should fit most adult women’s hands but if you have rather small or rather large hand you can size it up or down by changing the needle size. Full color charts and detailed written instructions make this a fun project even for beginner’s with color-work.
A note about the yarn; this is rough, sturdy stuff. If you don’t like scratchy tough wool, this yarn isn’t for you. It has a lot of lanolin and made my hands nice and soft after knitting with it. It did soften up quite a bit when washed but I thought I’d put the information out there.
