Metacrisis - recombination or a change

Inspired by the Doctor Donna, the human-timelord metacrisis that occurred in Doctor Who when Donna became part timelord for awhile. The meld allowed her to utilize the best features of humanity: creativity and recklessness, with the vast knowledge of the timelords.

Similarly, these socks have a lot going on: faux i-cord, stranded colorwork, braided colorwork cables, and are written up in both toe-up and cuff-down varieties. However, all those aspects gel together in one cohesive design that is simpler to knit than it seems.

Pattern comes in three sizes:
* Small: Recommended for foot diameter 7-8 inch
72 stitches colorwork leg, 58 stitches foot
* Medium: Recommended for foot diameter 8-8.5 in
84 stitches colorwork leg, 66 stitches foot
* Large: Recommended for foot diameter 8.5-9.5 in
96 stitches colorwork leg, 74 stitches foot

Pattern is written for a main color (approx 250 yards for example) and two contrasts (approx 50 yards each for example), but can be done with only one contrast color instead. It’s simple to switch sizes between the leg and foot if you have unusual proportions. The count for the colorwork portion is a bit higher than normal due to the extra lack of elasticity brought on by the cables.

Basic chart-reading skills are necessary, as it’s really difficult to write colorwork charts out. The chart repeat is only 6 rows and 12-16 stitches wide (depending on size) and very easily memorized.
