This cowl is all about personal choice. We start with a basic garter stitch. There is structure and a pattern to follow, but within that pattern you have choices. Will you choose one assigned pooling stitch or many? Which one will you choose? Which stitches are right for your cowl, and which ones don’t fit? It’s up to you. All patterns are recipes and this one especially so. Six different assigned pooling stitches are included in this pattern, but you should feel free to use your own, or just let the pooling in plain stockinette speak for itself. This is your cowl. Make it your own. Each cowl will be unique to the maker, for no two yarns will pool the same and each assigned pooling stitch will alter the color movement across the cowl. How will you style the cowl? With the bandana point in front? Something to the side? Or use the back split to create a center front collar? Let the Metaphorically Yours Cowl become just that: a metaphor for you - your choices, your life’s adventures. After all, no matter what the pattern says or the expectation is, your cowl and your life are entirely your own.

Note about yarn selection: because of the nature of assigned pooling and the difference in the six assigned pooling options, this cowl uses between 95-120 grams of yarn.
