When I think of a good cardigan the word “easy” comes to my mind. For many living in a temperate climate a cardigan is a favorite in summer. It is a must, but at the same time discarding of heavy winter dress. Air & sun and free movements!
Using a marvellous soft merino yarn from A Hundred Ravens, I have designed a light and airy jacketlike cardigan. The easy to crochet two-row-repeat half openwork horizontal textured pattern, combines air and warmth.
As a tailor I love matching stripes, do not shy away, the stripes actually makes it much easier to set in the sleeves! (in my testers words)
You can make the cardigan singlecoloured with contrasting borders, or as in the picture with impressive, yet easy, stripes in any colours your heart likes!
The very special borders gives the garment structure and solidity, they are my own version of a crocheted false I-cord, made along the finished garment edge. Phototutorial included in pattern.
