The shawl is both bold and graphic while its border is inspired by tradition of Estonian lace. Choose contrast colors to achieve modern look or low saturated shades to enhance your romantic side.

This pattern has written and charted instructions.

Pattern notes:
Metropolitan shawl is knitted sideways. The striped garter stitch body of the shawl and lace border are knitted simultaneously using short rows technique. It means no knitted on border or picking up the sts!

Finished measurements:
The sample is 90.5” / 230 cm from side to side and 21.5”/ 55 cm deep.

Materials:
• Yarn: 1 skein of in MC and 1 skein of Milis by Julie Asselin 475 yards/ 4.06 ounces / 434 meters/ 115 grams; 100% Merino single ply or other fingering weight yarn that knits up to the gauge. When substituting the yarn, bare in mind Milis has bigger than usual yardage.
The sample was knit using Milis by Julie Asselin in Sunset (MC) and Singleton by The Uncommon Thread in Peat (CC).
• Needles and other notions: US 6 (4.0 mm) circular needles, stitch marker, needle to weave in ends.

Gauge: 20 Stitches per 4 inches/ 10 cm after blocking with US 6 (4.0 mm) needles in Garter Stitch. Gauge is not crucial for this project but may affect finished measurements and yardage.

Chusta jest śmiała i graficzna, a użyta w niej koronka nawiązuje do tradycji chust estońskich. Wybierz kolory mocno kontrastujące ze sobą, by osiągnąć współczesny look lub zgaszone odcienie by podkreślić swoją romantyczną naturę.

Chusta Metropolitan jest wydziergana na płasko. Część główna w pasy jest wykonana ściegiem francuskim jednocześnie z koronkową bordiurą, dzięki wykorzystaniu techniki rzędów skróconych, co oznacza żadnego nabierania oczek z brzegu bądź dorabiania koronkowej bordiury!

Próbka: 20 Oczek na 4 cale/ 10 cm po blokowaniu, na drutach US 6 (4.0 mm) ściegiem francuskim. Próbka nie jest bardzo istotna, ale jej zmiana może wpłynąć na zmianę wymiarów i metraż.
