Mi Herencia is part of a series of cowls inspired by my Peruvian heritage. Herencia is a Spanish word for heritage. Sadly as a Peruvian there is so much I do not know about my own people and this series of cowls is a way for me to dig deeper into my culture. Mi Herencia is inspired by Incan architecture and traditional motifs. The colors are inspired by traditional Peruvian clothing which is known for it’s bright color palate.

Needles:
US 5 (3.75 mm) 16” circulars
If you knit tightly in colorwork it is recommended that you go down 1-2 needle sizes when knitting stockinette and texture sts to avoid changes in gauge
Needle sizes are only a suggestion; use the needle size/sizes you need to achieve gauge.

Gauge:
24 sts x 25 rnds = 4” in colorwork knit in the round and blocked
24 sts x 28 rnds = 4” in Graphite motif knit in the round and blocked
Gauge is not crucial for this project but will affect final measurements and yardage

Notions:
Crochet hook, waste yarn, stitch markers, tapestry needle, extra set of needles for Kitchener stitch, blocking wires & pins, fishing line or embroidery thread for lifelines (optional), 40” circular for double loop (optional)
