This is a pattern for a tea cosy in the form of Michael D. Higgins, President of Ireland. The pattern is from Trim Wool Shop, Unit 3, Mill Street, Trim, Co Meath, Ireland (they also have an online presence).

Requirements are DK wool in grey, white and peach and fluffy white wool for the hair as well as small amounts of black and pink wool for the face features. The tie is knitted with any colour DK wool of your choosing. You will also need toy stuffing, two grey buttons and wire glasses. The vendors threw the glasses in with the pattern and also sold it as a kit.

Knitting techniques are basic using garter and stocking stitch with simple decreasing.

The pattern came to national prominence when the cosy appeared on a TV programme Gogglebox Ireland earning the President the name Michael ‘Tea’ Higgins.
