I Knitted this sweater vest for my 5-year-old brother’s birthday. And he has worn it. Twice. Christmas and Easter. Only. Ever since I knitted it in November. I had fun knitting it, anyway.

The vest is worked bottom up in the round. When you reach the yoke, you will divide to work the front and back separately. Then, you join the shoulders and knit the neckband and armbands.

This vest uses about 1/2 the skein. It does not take a long time, but it is a little hard to handle if you use scrap yarn for stitch holders, as the yarn can get tangled up.

To make a bigger vest more easily than modifying the pattern, just use larger yarn and needles. The vest will be bulkier, but it is easier than modifying the pattern.

You Will Need:

scrap yarn or stitch holders

US 7(4.5 mm) 36” circular knitting needles

Set of 5 US 7(4.5 mm) Double Pointed Needles

1 skein Crafters Secret ‘Big Idea’ yarn
