I made this hat for my guy friends. They love Michigan sport teams. I had a hard time with the gauge and probably made this hat about 6 times :P Sometimes it would come out too large or too small. I wanted it to fit like a beanie hat.

For the Michigan State hat I used Comfy Sport weight. I used two strands when making the hat to make it thicker and so I could use the size 6 needles. For this hat gauge is 4 stitches per inch.

To be safe if you use the same yarn I did get 2 skeins of the main color. You may only use one though or one and a bit of the second depending on how large/small you make it. Also just get 1 skein of the color for the chart. You won’t use all of it.

One more thing! I didn’t want to carry the chart color all the way around the hat so I would start the green a couple stitches before the chart and end a couple after. Then when I finished the hat I tied the first and second row ends together. Then 3rd and 4th together etc. (See Picture) I will be sewing some fabric over so it doesn’t look as messy.

Enjoy please let me know if you have questions or problems! :)
