Micky the Monkey
Micky the Monkey is having a banana snack! This is a pocket-sized toy you can carry with you on your adventures. Worked mostly in stockinette with increases and decreases for shaping, the face incorporates intarsia colour-work.
Designed by Amanda Berry @fluffandfuzz, the monkey is knitted in acrylic DK yarns. The arms, legs, tail and banana are i-cord pieces worked on two DPNs, and the other pieces are knitted flat on single pointed needles (not in the round).
NEEDLES
A pair each of 3mm single pointed knitting needles and DPNs (US 2.5).
RECOMMENDED YARN
Sirdar Hayfield Bonus DK; double knitting/light worsted weight; 100% acrylic; up to 25g in each colour.
Micky was originally designed to be made from a yarn kit with a knitting magazine; as that yarn is no longer available I have updated the pattern for knitting on DK weight yarns which give better results.
NOTIONS
Tapestry needle, toy filling, and domed buttons for eyes.
SIZES
One size only - 9.5cm tall.
TECHNIQUES
For confident beginners and above, other techniques used include casting on and off, knits, purls, increases and decreases, and seaming to finish.
