Microbes!
by Clare
’The Big Microbe Knit’ took place on 31st October 2009 as part of the 2009 Manchester Science Festival. Knitters of all abilities and ages used these patterns to learn about the microbes that cause (and cure) common diseases.
Gauge is unimportant for these patterns, which are designed to be made in DK or aran weight yarn. Choose a needle size slightly smaller than suggested by the yarn, to produce a firm fabric.
Patterns included:
Tuberculosis
Cholera
Salmonella
Rhinovirus (common cold)
Swine Flu
Penicillium
Double pointed needles are recommended for these patterns. Patterns for Tuberculosis, Cholera and Salmonella for knitting on straight needles are also provided.
