Mid Morning Macarons
This pattern has you making perfect fluffy macaron treats in no time. All you need is some heavier worsted to Aran weight yarn in pastel tones for the meringue portion and a small amount of yarn in a saturated color complement for the filling portion. I encourage you to knit in the round if this method is accessible to you. Just be sure to add stuffing to the meringue pieces before the openings get to be too small. The finished macaron measures about 1.5” when constructed using the listed notions and materials.
NOTIONS:
Pair US 6 / 4.00 mm knitting needles
Embroidery needle
MATERIALS:
1g Pastel Color in Heavy Worsted - Aran Wt.
Small amt. Complementary Saturated Color
Poly-fill for stuffing or Shredded Yarn
GAUGE:
Alternate size needles and yarn can be substituted, but this will affect the size of the finished object. Gauge is not important for this project as long as the yarn is bulkier than recommended for the needle size you have chosen. You should aim to create a tight enough fabric so that stuffing doesn’t show. The weight of the yarn used for the filling is of little consequence since it doesn’t require stuffing. If you choose fingering weight yarn, hold it double to achieve the desired size.
SKILLS:
Basic knitting technique, with simple increases, decreases, and seaming/sewing.
