Midnight Blue Cowl
This geometric cowl was inspired by impressionist paintings, and impasto technique of Vincent van Gogh, in particular. It is a celebration of my love of art and the joy and meaning that it has brought to my life.
Materials:
• One 4mm / US size 6 circular needle, 60cm / 24” in length, or 60cm circular needle in size used to meet the required gauge.
• Stitch markers, optional, one of which is used to mark the beginning of round.
• Tapestry needle for sewing in threads.
• Blocking materials.
• Worsted weight yarn in two colours, approximately 133m (160m) / 145yds (175yds) of the Main Colour and approximately 72m (85m) / 78yds (93yds) of the Contrast Colour. The sample is knitted in Malabrigo Rios - 100% merino wool, 192m / 210yds per 100g, and is shown in colourways Wholegrain (Main Colour) and Whales Road (Contrast Colour).
Gauge:
23 stitches and 25 rows = 10cm / 4in in stranded knitting, knitted in the round, and blocked. Knitting to gauge is important to ensure that your knitted item is the correct size, and to ensure that yardage requirements are similar to those stated in the pattern.
Size:
Two sizes 1 (2), the cowl measures 52cm (62.5cm) / 20.5” (24.5”) in circumference and 26cm / 10” in height.
