The hat is a take-off the classic knits from the 1900’s and features a two-color brioche brim, a color work pattern that makes up the base of the hat, concluding with symmetrical decreasing on the crown.
The hat has one size which can fit a 21” to 25” head. When knitting the gauge i would recommend knitting part of the one by one colorwork provided to see how the colors go along with each other.
Notes On Midnight Sea:
GAUGE IS 17 stitches to 4”and 24 rows for 4”
Use Size 6 Needles. Pattern for the Gauge: Stockinette.
Other Notes:
• Suggested Colors:
o 32 grams of Midnight Sea
o 25 grams of Grey Harbor
o 8 g grams of Storm Cloud.
This might help, especially if you are using scraps!
• When picking colors, this might be a clever idea.
o MC: Dark ( Midnight Sea)
o CC1: Light( Grey Harbor)
o CC2: Medium! (Storm Cloud)
• Center Double Decreases (CDD) are used to construct the crown. In these rounds, the first stitch of the round is the last stitch of the previous round. You knit to the last stitch in the last round, slip the last stitch knitted back onto the left needle and begin the decrease round. The round marker will shift to the right of the CDD at the beginning of the round.
