Midnight Shawl
The pattern for this shawl was inspired by the soft tones of the midnight sky at the height of summer in Shetland, when it never gets fully dark. The pattern is a play on the effect of combining just two colours and just two traditional Shetland lace motifs, the Cat’s Paw and the Horseshoe, in a gently asymmetrical dance, in the same way as the midnight sky is never fully symmetrical. The shawl is knitted in garter stitch lace, which gives it a sense of soft squishiness.
