Have fun with self-striping yarn. The color changes set off the chevron stitch pattern of this design. Eyelets, ribbing and garter stitch provide some extra texture.

The lower edge of the cowl is knit using a larger gauge needle to minimize rolling of the edge. There are decreases knit at the neck edge to create a tapered shape to the cowl.
