Manchmal, wenn der Wind ganz besonders stark weht, wünsche ich mir ein Tuch, das ganz dick und warm ist, aber gleichzeitig auch meine feminine Seite betont. Deshalb habe ich Mien Deern entworfen, ein halbrundes, dekoratives Allwetter-Tuch. Durch das Garn in DK-Stärke wärmt es auch bei Gegenwind gut; die zur Seite fallende Rüschenkante lässt sich als hübscher Hingucker über einer Jacke drapieren. Das Besondere: Wird das Tuch um den Hals herumgelegt, fallen die Rüschen ganz von selbst so, wie sie sollen. Das Tuch lässt sich übrigens leicht an alle Größen anpassen.

“Mien Deern” kommt aus dem Plattdeutschen und heißt so viel wie “Mein Mädchen”. Bei uns in Norddeutschland wird es als liebevolle Anrede verwendet - nicht nur für kleine Mädchen.
Ich finde, die Kombination aus verspielter Leichtigkeit und rustikaler Optik, die durch das dickere Garn entsteht, passt perfekt zu einer “Deern”. Ganz besonders wichtig war es mir beim Entwerfen, dass jede einzelne Rüsche gut definiert ist und sich auch nach mehrmaligem Tragen nicht einrollt.

Verwendete Techniken: rechte und linke Maschen, linke und rechte Maschen rechts und links verschränkt zunehmen (im Photo-Tutorial gezeigt), Maschen zusammenstricken.

Garn: 2 Stränge Madelinetosh Vintage (je 116 g), Farbe Well Water

Somestimes, when the wind is very strong, I wish for a shawl that is thick and warm but makes me look feminine as well. That’s why I designed Mien Deern, a half-circle, ornamental all-weather shawl. Due to the DK yarn opposing wind will never be a problem again! The cascading ruffles are a beautiful eyecatcher when wearing the shawl over a coat. The special thing: If you put the shawl around your neck, all of the ruffles will drape the way they are supposed to be. By the way, the shawl can be easily adjusted to all sizes.

“Mien Deern” means “my girl” in Low German. Here in North Germany it’s common to be addressed in such a way, my grandma calls me “Mien Deern”. It can also be used as a term of endearment.
I think the combination of the playful easiness and the rustic look, that is evoked by the thicker yarn, suits a “Deern” perfectly. When designing this shawl, I focussed on two things: I wanted to create a shawl with ruffles that are well defined and edges that don’t curl - even when being worn frequently.

Required techniques: knit and purl stitches, m1L, m1R, m1P left leaning and right leaning (explained in the photo tutorial), ssk, k2tog.

Yarn: 2 skeins of Madelinetosh Vintage (116 g each), colour Well Water
