Mighty Oak Shawl
The stitch patterns used in this design also feature in my Little Acorns Blanket & my Mighty Oak Shrug (2021) designs as well as (now) some others that have emerged & helped grow a small Mighty Oak collection.
ABOUT THE DESIGN:
Suitable for an advanced beginner, the techniques you will use include the working of eyelets, shaping on both sides of the shawl, & the working of temporary increases to effect a bobbly/embossed look, which are later resolved as decreases in another row. (All fully explained in the pattern). An Icelandic Bind Off is used, & a link is included.
There are 2 different stitch patterns used, & the pattern includes instructions for 2 sizes, with guidelines given for a 3rd, super sized version. (Photos on this page show Size 2). You can actually stop at any point before the bind off is worked, & instructions are included telling you how & when you can do this.
Using a yarn with great stitch definition, & also preferably a solid or semi solid/tonal, will make the stitch patterns pop.
This design is also reversible, in that the ‘wrong’ side depicts a rather lovely, but more subtle textured appearance, that can easily be worn in it’s own right.
