This hat design was inspired by Debbie Bliss Milano, a textured, tweedy aran weight yarn. This yarn is perfect for structured garments and I knew it would be perfect to add structure to a classic cloche. Debbie Bliss BFL Aran provides the perfect stitch definition and softness for the main color of the hat. The cloche is constructed by knitting the lining of the brim first, then the outside brim, band and top of hat. The brim lining is sewn in place.

Advanced knitters may wish to do a provisional cast on and knit the lining together with the hat – the instructions are meant to be as simple as possible to accommodate all knitting levels. A few lonely buttons floating around my button box provided the perfect touch to complement the tweedy colors in the band.
