Milk and Honey Dish Sponge
Washing dishes is infinitely better when you are using beautiful tools. This crochet sponge was inspired by the idea of an “unsponge,” a sponge that can be washed and used over and over again, saving you from having to buy a new sponge every week.
Level: Intermediate
Yarn: Bernat Maker Home Dec (about 10 yards)
Red Heart Scrubby Cotton Yarn (about 10 yards)
The combination of yarns gives this sponge a very unique, polished look. One side of the sponge uses Bernat Maker Home Dec, giving it beautiful texture and stitch definition, and the other side uses Red Heart Scrubby Cotton, making it very practical for scrubbing dishes clean.
This pattern comes with a full stitch tutorial on the modified thermal stitch, with 17 photos and detailed instructions for each step. This stitch modification creates a beautiful fabric that is twice as thick as typical crochet stitches, and could be used for other projects such as a blanket, bag, or matching dish cloth as well. This unique stitch modification creates a double sided fabric, and a texture similar to tunisian crochet stitches. No sewing is involved, because the stitch is worked in such a way that two sides are created.
The pattern works up quickly once you get the hang of the stitch, and it is a great project for craft shows, gifts, or a stash busting project.
