Milk Thistle Shawl
Indulge in the meditative repetitions of this shawl while also enjoying the variations of garter, lace, and eyelets. A sister shawl to Cluran, this is a large triangle shawl knit on a bias. The sport-weight rustic wool makes it a substantial, rugged piece perfect for days when you wish to be enveloped.
DETAILS:
Yarn: 168 g / 590 m / 645 yards to 165 g/ 645 m / 706 yards of sport weight wool. Please see note regarding yardage.
Specific Yarn Used in Sample: 3 skeins of Lichen and Lace Rustic Heather Sport in “Sage”.
Needles: 4.5 mm / US size 7 circular needles with at least a 32” cord length. Optional DPNs for completing the lace edging.
Notions: Blocking tools and tapestry needle.
NOTES:
-
Testers reported a wide range of yardage used. While I and others only needed three skeins of Lichen & Lace, others reported needing up to 100 yards more based on their tension. It is recommended to buy more than anticipated if you think you may have a looser tension.
-
Gauge is not essential but the sample used up nearly all of the 3 skeins of the Lichen and Lace Heather Sport so please take yarn requirements into account should you alter the gauge or weight of the yarn used.
-
I prefer to use a DPN for the lace border but it is possible to knit the border using only the circular needles.
