Milo the Monkey
A free version is also available.

This monkey amigurumi pattern has to be one of my cutest creations to-date. It is a simple amigurumi pattern, however as there are colour changes required for the face and the ears, I have rated this crochet pattern as intermediate. In other words, it is helpful if you have a little bit of crochet / amigurumi experience before crocheting.
The crochet pattern is available for free on my blog. However, if you’d prefer the ad-free version as a PDF download, this can be purchased from my Ravelry store.
You can find out more detailed information about this pattern below, but if you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to message me directly and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.
Materials Needed
- Yarn: DK/Light Worsted Yarn in two colours. I used Hobbii Rainbow Cotton 8/8 in Caramel (86 grams = 129 m / 141 yds) & Nougat (25 grams = 37.5 m / 41 yds).
- Crochet hook: Size 3.5 mm (E)
- Other materials: Stuffing, Needle, Scissors, Pins, Stitch marker, Safety eyes 8 mm or additional black yarn/embroidery thread for the eyes
Monkey Size
Using the yarn mentioned above with a 3.5 mm (E) crochet hook and Milo the Monkey turned out to be 22 cm / 8.6 “ high and 13 cm / 5.1 “ wide. Please note: I do tend to crochet quite tightly, so your monkey may turn out larger.
Gauge
Gauge is not required for this pattern, however for reference my gauge was as follows:
11 sc stitches on 5 cm / 1.96 “
11 rows on 5 cm / 1.96 “
Additional Information
- Pattern language: English
- Pattern terms: US terms
- Stitches used: Magic circle, chain, slip stitch, single crochet, decreases and increases
- Techniques used: Crocheted in the round, colour changing, Front loop only, Back loop only, and sewing amigurumi parts together.
- Yarn: The yarn choice is completely up to you, and you can change the yarn weight, material, and colours based on your own personal preference. Just be aware that the weight of your yarn may impact the hook size you need to use and also the size of your final make.
- Hook size: I recommend using a smaller hook size than recommended on the yarn label. This will stop the stuffing appearing through your stitches.
- Working in rounds: All parts within this pattern are worked in continuous rounds unless otherwise stated.
- Copyright: You are more than welcome to sell your crocheted creations using this pattern on a small scale. However, the pattern itself cannot be reproduced, sold, or redistributed in any way without the designers’ consent.
