Rosa Rugosa is also called a beach rose or beach tomato and grows in the sand at the beach of Cape Cod, Massachusetts where I spent my summers growing up. Inspired by the memories of big buckets of ‘perfume’ with beach roses and salt water from the ocean, I designed this garter stitch crescent shaped shawlette with a flower and wave lace pattern along with short rows to give it a crescent shape. This year I took my family back to visit my mom, Mimi, for our summer vacation and decided to desin and knit this to remind me of the beach in the cold of winter. What better way to take my vacation home with me?

Finished dimensions after washing and blocking: Approximately 36 inches (92 cm)high and 44 inches (112 cm) wide. When stretched long it is about 84 inches (214 cm) long.

Skill Level: advanced beginner/intermediate

Yarn: 575.0 yards (525.8m) of fingering weight yarn, I used Wollmeise 100% Merino Superwash.

Needles: US 5 (3.5 mm)

Notions: 2 stitch markers

Gauge: 24 sts per 4 inches (10 cm) after blocking in stockinette stitch, although gauge is not important, but your final dimensions and yardage requirements may vary if your gauge is different.
