Mim’s Chevrons is a top-down, round yoke sweater in sizes 6 months to 12 years. Designed to take advantage of the rainbow colours of Rain City Knit’s BabyCakes set, it works equally well with as few as two colours. Choose your favourite combination, or substitute a gradient yarn for all of the contrasting colours!

Sizes 6 months through 4 years can be completed as written with one set of Baby Cakes and one 100gm skein of the main colour. Sizes 6 through 12 require two sets and two skeins of main colour.

The pattern is both written and charted, and blank charts are included so you can design your own stripe sequence.

Construction:
This sweater is knit top-down in one piece, working back and forth. Sleeve stitches are held on waste yarn, and worked flat once the body is completed. The sleeves and underarm are seamed once the knitting is complete.

Sleeves for sizes 4-12 should be worked on needles one size larger than the rest of the sweater

Sizes: 6 mo, (1, 2, 4) 6, 8, 10, 12
Finished Chest Measurements: 20 (22.5, 23.75, 26.25) 28, 29.75, 31.5, 33.25 inches
Yardage required: 350 (450, 550, 6750 840, 1000, 1200, 1350 yards of DK weight yarn. Exact yardage necessary will depend on the stripe sequence you choose.

This pattern started out as a Ravellenic/Rainbowlenics project, when I couldn’t find an appropriate chevron striped sweater. Thanks to Krista at Rain City Knits for encouraging me to resize and publish this, and to my test knitters for their time and feedback: Beverly, Turtlegirl76, kayebugs, bgow, Melroan, knitwench, TheEnforcerKnits, SueySue, Anthroknitgal, Foodieknitter, gingergooseberry, agiraffe; and to the ladies of the Knittyboard for their neverending support!
