The stitch is textured and swirls diagonally around the hat. Years ago after flipping through Barbara Walker books I tried my hand at creating a stitch and this stitch was born. It started out in columns and became an Easter basket for my mother in law. Eventually I added some yarnovers and tried it out on socks, but it tended to twist. After making a beret for a friend of mine I decided to try my stitch in a slouchy beret.
