Mina, the heroine of Dracula and the Count’s love interest in movie adaptations, is a modern, virtuous, Victorian lady, able to both write shorthand and chastise friends on proper behavior. When she would wrap a scarf around her coveted, silken throat, I imagine she’d want something delicate and feminine yet sensible to keep her covered. This scarf is just the thing, made from hand spun that wavers between wisps of lace and thick, bulky slubs. Perfect for practice yarns, a mere 50 yards will give a short, pinned neck warmer, while more will make a long, handsome lady’s scarf. Use large needles fitted to the slubs rather than the lacier lengths of yarn, and block thoroughly to achieve maximum effect.
