Mindful Mobius
The mobius loop is a handy shape that creates the best fitting cowl! Because of its half-twist and substantial depth, the Mindful Mobius makes a good fit over the shoulders, or can be pulled up over the ears as a hood , or worn draped forward as a standard long-loop cowl.
The Mindful Mobius is cast on in the center of the cowl and worked in the round outwards, for a continuous outside edge. You will start with Cat Bordi’s Mobius Cast on (resources links provided), which can be tricky at first, but will become rhythmical and easy with practice. Upon first glance, the cast on stitch count can seem very big, but remember that the cast-on is double sided and fast to do. When you start knitting each round worked will actually be TWO revolutions around the cowl. It is important to use a LONG circular needle to accommodate two revolutions and all those stitches. This project is ideal for a self-striping and hand dyed yarns that will emphasize the path of the stitches and the 180 degree twist!
After the initial cast on challenge, the rest of this project is easy peasy! You will enjoy hours of garter stitch in long rounds. This is a great project for trying a new knitting style, for mindless tv or vacation knitting, or even for practicing knitting with your eyes closed! The cowl finishes with a simple i-cord cast off for a tidy edge.
Easy to knit! Practical to wear! The Mindful Mobius will be your new go-to cowl!
