Mindy’s Knit Elf Hat Pattern - PDF Instant Download

The knit Christmas hat the Elves in your life just can’t do without! Knit one in any of the 8 sizes included in this pattern for all the elves of every age in your life.

This pattern is for the confident beginner knitter who can work increases and decreases according to pattern instructions. I am open to answer any questions you have while working this up so try it out and don’t hesitate to email me for help.

8 Sizes Included in the Pattern:
Newborn-3 Months
3-6 Months
6-12 Months
Toddler (1-3 Years)
Child (3-10 Years)
Teen 11-18 Years/Adult Small
Women’s/Adult Medium
Men’s/Adult Large
NOTE: Check Head Circumference to make sure you are making the right size - heads may vary in size according to age and gender.

This pattern is worked on double point and 16” circular needle sizes:
US 5 (3.75 mm) and US 6 (4.0 MM)

Yarn this pattern requires:
1 skeins of color (A)
1 skein of color (B)

This pattern was written using mainly Knit Picks Brava Sport Weight Yarn (in red and grass green, see notes below on the white used)

Cascade Cherub DK was a comparable substitute in yarn weight, but had much smaller yardage per skein so keep this in mind when choosing the yarn to complete your project. You will want to calculate your yardage carefully.

If you use a different size yarn (i.e. worsted weight) you will need to adjust the size you are making (make a larger or smaller size) and/or adjust your needle size to ensure you are getting the proper gauge. Just use caution in your substitutions to ensure your gauge is correct so your final sizing will also be correct.

You will also want to ensure you have enough yarn to complete the whole project. The white used was in various brands (Bernat Softee Baby, Caron Simply Soft and Loops and Threads Snuggly Wuggly to name a few) as the Knit Picks Brava Sport Weight White yarn was not white enough for my liking.
