Ming Mittens
by Bill Thoms
Discontinued.
This digital pattern is no longer available online.
This pair of finely detailed mittens is inspired by 600 year old Chinese porecelain vases created during the Ming Dynasty. Like the original artworks, these mitts are adorned with geometic and organic images such as dragons and florals. Traditionally, the Ming pieces were hand-painted using cobalt blue on a white ground. For my sample, I broke the colour barrier and used Fleece Artist fingering weight Blue Face Leicester Sock yarn in shades of magenta and apple green. The BFL yarn lends the mitts a silky sheen.
