Create your own mini no sew axolotl! This pattern features no colour changing in the middle of a row allowing you to prep make several at a time for markets and craft fairs easily!

The axolotl is a type of salamander from Mexico which retains its juvenile water breathing gills into adulthood. Made popular by the video game Minecraft, this creature is a huge hit with kids who love to tell their parents all about this adorable little amphibian whenever they see it at my market booth!

I used mostly scrap yarns on my axolotl as they take very little to complete. Perfect for all those little balls of yarn ends that you can’t bear to throw away!

Finished piece is about 4.5 inches long when using suggested yarn weight and hook. You can use a bigger yarn and hook to create bigger axolotl!

Materials:
-Two colours of yarn in your chosen weight
-4mm hook or 5.5mm hook depending on your yarn chosen
-12mm or 18mm safety eyes depending on your yarn chosen
-Polyfill or similar craft stuffing
-Tapestry needle

This pattern is suitable for beginners but you must have a knowledge of crochet terminology and techniques to be able to execute it.
Gauge is not important for amigurumi as long as your tension remains consistent and tight enough that the stuffing cannot be sen through the stitches. I recommend the Yarn Under technique to create tight, even stitches.
