I dedicate this pattern to the memory of our little Miniature Dachshund Lena, who was born October 23, 2004 and passed over the Rainbow Bridge on July 26, 2021. She was our joy, our blessing and my knitting muse. Although I originally named my shop to honor my grandmother Lena who taught me to knit when I was 4 years old, I’m rededicating it our sweet and precious little companion. She was … and will always be … much loved.

Well I must be honest. Lena BEGGED me NOT to make this Miniature Dachshund Ugly Christmas Sweater for her but I think every dog actually needs one of these.

After all, we Mommies and Daddies walk about in public in these every Holiday Season!

This sweater may look difficult but it really is easy. I’ve broken each section down and given you detailed instructions.

The sweater Body is knitted flat and then seamed. I’ve given you two options for the turtleneck collar. You can knit it in-the-round or knit it flat. It’s up to you.

The sleeves are knit in the round but if you prefer, you can just do a single crochet around the armhole.

I do give you detailed instructions to make an exact copy of this sweater, but I’ve also broken each segment into individual instructions to encourage you to Mix and Match and come up with your own unique Ugly Christmas Sweater design.
