This pattern is to make a pair of dungarees with a smaller tail opening for A Little Crochet Mouse, (pattern here) or one with a bigger tail opening. However, they should fit any doll of a similar size (height: 15-20cm, hips width: 12 cm).

You can customize this piece as follows, by referring to the relevant colour code throughout the pattern:

  • shorter
  • longer
  • smaller tail opening
  • bigger tail opening
  • no tail opening

The bottom section of the dungarees is worked from the bottom up to the waist using the amigurumi method, ie. crocheted in the round without closing at the end of each round. You may want to use a stitch marker to mark the beginning of each round. Yarn is then rejoined at waist for the chest panel to be worked in rows. The hem is added afterwards.

The front panel is worked in back-and-forth rows after rejoining the yarn to the front waist of the bottom section.

The embellishments (decorative buttons and patch) are optional and require some basic sewing skills, ie. button sewing and whip stitch technique, which are not covered in this pattern.

Materials needed:
⁃ 3.5mm crochet hook
⁃ 50g of DK yarn, in colour of choice
⁃ Scissors
⁃ Tapestry needle
⁃ 2 small buttons and matching embroidery floss (optional)
