As a Calculus 3 student exploring quadric surfaces for the first time, I found myself befuddled by the concept of a hyperbolic paraboloid. With a little yarn, a dash of mathematical logic, and a whole lot of trial and error, I designed the following pattern so that my classmates and I could tangibly comprehend this surface and its traces. I hope this pattern will assist you too! Necessary techniques include: single crochet, chain, and sc2tog. Supplies include: yarn (any color) and a small crochet hook (I used size C).
