This join-as-you-go motif can be used to create a number of things: table runners or cloths, scarfs, shawls, wraps, doilies, used alone as a coaster, trivets, blankets, …

Gauge isn’t important for this project, as it can be worked in any size.

I tested it with three different yarns and hooks, and got the following measurements:
