To celebrate 100 years since the Armistice of World
War I, my village will be decorating our Commonwealth War Graves with the national flag of each serviceman. This is a pattern for the New Zealand flag.

The final flag is one size, approximately 18 x 10 cm and uses oddments of 4 ply yarn. You can increase the size of the finished flag by using a thicker yarn and larger needles.

1 x 50 g skein of scarlet red 4 ply yarn
1 x 50 g skein of white 4 ply yarn
1 x 50g skein of royal blue 4 ply yarn
4 star shaped buttons in red
a small piece of fabric (20 x 15 cm) to back the flag plus matching sewing thread (optional)
A short piece of narrow dowel or bamboo skewer to act as a flagpole (optional).
