For this project, you can use any yarn. The size of your finished parakeet will depend on the yarn, hook, and tension you used.

Materials
- Yarn of different colors (depending on what color you wanna make your parakeet).
I recommend sport weight cotton yarn, but you can use any yarn, in single or double strand.
-A pair of 5-6 mm safety eyes (if it’s meant for a toddler, embroider the eyes instead).
-2 mm crochet hook (or any hook that allows you to crochet your selected yarn, without leaving holes in your work).
-Yarn needle.
- Embroidery needle
-Thread (for the cheek patches,and beak)
-Scissors
- Tweezers (to attach the keyring)
-Stuffing (polyester filling)

To be able to complete this pattern, you need to know all the basic crochet stitches mentioned bellow (US terminology), as well as the magic ring and color changes in the amigurumi technique.

ch – chain
sc – single crochet
sl st – slip stitch
inc –increase (two sc in the same stitch)
Dec – decrease (two stitches together).
Hdc – Half double crochet
dc -Double crochet.
