MIni Patch Cowl
The Mini Patch Cowl was inspired by two things: ten gram mini skeins of fingering weight yarn and the patchwork quilts that are near and dear to my heart. I was winding up mini skeins of leftover fingering weight yarn when I knew I needed to do a pattern to use these cute little bits. As I was knitting and designing, I kept thinking about how putting together the colors was like the way I approach making a scrap quilt, and the mini squares in the design reminded me of little quilt patches.
Quilters from the past often traded small patches of fabric to include in their scrap quilts, so I contacted some of my lovely knitting friends and asked for some small bits of leftover yarn to include in my cowl. Seeing their yarns in my cowl brings joy to my heart.
In the first version I used 25 mini skeins to make a double wrap cowl. I also knit a version using 12 mini skeins for a single wrap cowl.
If you choose to knit the Mini Patch Cowl as an Advent project, inspirational holiday quotes have been included for you.
I hope you enjoy using some leftover yarns, or mini skeins to create your own Mini Patch Cowl, and even better yet, do some trading with friends.
